Stop the comparisons and just take it for what it is. Wake up people, stop hating and just appreciate other people’s work. BTW he did not drop Ashanti, she been wanting to leave so he did her a favor. Irv did not like what she was doing and that’s why his dumbass did not support her album and did not promote it as much as he shouldve. With THE DECLARATION, she tried to do her own thing and that’s why TWTILY was so different from anything else she had ever done. And like many artist, when they first come out, their label is in complete control of that they do. He wanted her to be that chick that sings on hooks w the dudes, etc. Just that the material that Ashanti was releasing at the time of her Murder Inc days would not show her vocal depth because Irv Gotti did not want her to be another Mariah or Whitney. But vocally, Beyonce is just as average as Ashanti. THATS IT! Beyonce is not better than Ashanti. In those 4 yrs, of course there were new artist and Beyonce began to grow as a solo artist. Even tho Ashanti had nothing to do w what was going on, she was part of the label and it affected her big time. Some of you people are so rediculous or maybe u were too young to remember but it was the 4 year gap that she was forced to take when Murder Inc was going thru trails and everyone on the label was not allowed to release any new material. Still, she needs to go hard and play this very carefully, because the olive branch is thin.Īshanti is a great music artist.

If she manages to play her cards right and hook up with the right team, maybe she can reinvent herself long enough to get people to look past how boring/trite she’s been. The bottom line is that I’m not in “LOL/RME Ashanti” mode that I usually am. America loves to build entertainers up and then knock them down…but also loves a strong comeback.

Right now, the world of commercial R&B is once again at a lull and so someone can probably sneak in there and own in for at least a little while. We had just lost Aaliyah, the hype from Alicia Keys debut album had run its course and Beyonce was still a year away, so she was able to sneak in that vacant crawl space and blow up before the next wave moved in. When Ashanti blew up in 2002, there was a void in the world of R&B/Pop. I’m usually bored/unimpressed by Ashanti, but yeah…considering how low the world of commercial music has sunk in the past three or four years…and who has the nerve to be calling themselves “hit makers” these days, I’ll give her another chance (one LAST chance) to sway me in her direction.
